HE'S BACK!!

So, the fiancée is home now!! He graduated June 9/10 and we drove up to his house (Fort Benning, GA to Rochester, NY in two days!) so we've just been chillin' for the past weekish... Unfortunately he flies out to his next duty station on the 20th :( I think we'll be OK though! He'll have his phone, internet, skype, etc so we'll be able to talk pretty much every day if we want to!! YAY!!

As you probably know, I'm working on applying to Kansas State University for the spring semester... If I don't get accepted to the program this time around I'm gonna talk to a recruiter and go to OCS... decisions decisions....

My albino mousey had some babies the other day.... now I've got... a bunch... i don't know exactly how many I've got!! lol The new litter has 8 in it though (9 but the cat got into it and I don't think that the one baby is gonna survive).

The Twigster has lost a little bit of weight, right now, since we're traveling, he's on canned food. I finally found some that doesn't have any wheat product in it so it's working for us nicely. It really doesn't have a whole lot of any grain in it... I'll have to check and see what the binder is, i'm sure that there is some sort of binder/filler/grain product in there!!

I shall attempt to update this later... Right now I've gotta go finish filling out my grad school application and get two more profs to write letters for me!!

So close and yet so far...

Sooo got a call from my man yesterday! He says he's doing good... starting today they have their FTX (Field Training Exercise) that will last pretty much all week I believe... He's kind of excited about the whole thing which I is nice!

After that... he'll have like a week or so of "recovery" (basically cleaning he says) during which he may or may not have his phone (some people say yes, some say no, basically it's one of those things that can change from company to company!). Sooooo I'm EXCITED!! WEEE!! We are ALMOST done!! By the time I see him we'll have not seen each other for just over 6 months... at least now I know how long a 12month deployment will take!! (the answer is FOREVER by the way!! lol). After he gets home... I've got plans for him MWAHAHAHAHAHA. Soo yeah... that's all the news for now!!

Life Sucks... but not always!!

Sooo yeah... Timothy had a 36 hour pass yesterday and today... it was awesome but now I'm kind of... sad... oh well, only a few more weeks!!

----------Other News----------
The chickens are doing well, they're all growing... the adults have been free-ranging for the past couple days... not really heading outside much, not sure why... but I've been having to go on a royal egg hunt every single day since I started letting them outside!!

I've started really looking into graduate schools... Right now I REALLY like the looks of Kansas State University (perhaps because Tim's gonna be stationed at Ft. Riley!) but it's also a really good school... now, I've just gotta get accepted!!

I'm not sure what else there is to talk about... Tim has started talking about getting married this summer...He's saying maybe we'll just have a courthouse wedding and then have the "real" wedding at a later date... I'm not sure... I mean, I'd LOVE to but... I'm not entirely sure if my parents would let me! We shall see!

Rain Rain Go Away....

It's raining... still... It's been raining since I woke up at 9:00 this morning!! When will it ever stop?!

Today's agenda includes... mailing letter for Tim, (no picture though today 'cause I think the envelope is already too heavy) and then getting home to eat, feed critters, etc...

Hopefully I don't have to SWIM to the barn!! And hopefully the road isn't covered with water... water near the State Gamelands was pretty high this morning!

I SHOULD print DF a picture but... I think I'm gonna do it tomorrow since I can't mail it today anyways...

I'm BAAACCKKKK!!!

Haha, it's been a month since I've updated this... news (in no particular order)....

Birds - the 6 from TSC are GROWING! Fully feathered now, living in the chicken tractor which I've placed in the barn due to the copious amounts of rain and wind we've been having. The 4 that I hatched are no more... one just disappeared one day and then I went out one day and they all 3 were dead :( oh well. I have been getting about 6 eggs a day (up to 8 some days!) which is cool.

School - FINALS WEEK! I've got my theology final today, Accounting tomorrow, Physics Wednesday, Vert Zoo on Thursday and then I'M DONE! I can't wait! Hoping that grades turn out as well as I'd like them too!! I have been looking at some grad schools... found one in Mississippi (MSU) and they have a bunch of pretty cool looking research projects, lots of wildlife management type profs too. I'm going to look into schools in KS today (more on that later)

Tim - is alive! Doing good too! He called on Sunday, just a 13 minute call but still a phone call! Today they had their final PT to determine whether or not they'll actually be able to graduate from BCT and move on to AIT. I'm not really worried that he'll have problems but there's always the chance that something could go wrong. If he didn't pass I'm pretty sure he'll get a phone call home to let us know. Assuming that all goes well he thinks he's going to be going to Ft. Riley, KS after graduation... I already found a few ladies from MSOS that are stationed there and they said it's really nice (it's also the reason I'm looking for schools in KS!!) I'm not 100% certain that that's where he's going (nothing is ever "final" until it happens!) and I don't know how long he'll actually be stationed there but it's still cool to hear that he'll most likely be stateside!! There are a few people from his company that are going to Korea right after graduation, not that Korea is BAD but it's just SO FAR AWAY!!

Over the weekend I went up to Rochester for the Rochester Youth Conference, met tons of friends, had a great time. Scott DeGroff was the speaker, he is SUCH a GOOD SPEAKER! Every time I hear him I'm amazed at how well he can get his point across. This weekend the focus was "In the Pursuit of Christ." It was really good. I stayed with Bob and Bonnie which was a little rough (sleeping in Tim's room without him there...) but I survived and had fun. Got to see my lil' (almost) nephew, Carter, he's getting so big! He'll be 1 in May and he's starting to learn how to walk!! It's so cute!

Georgia plans! - Got my plane ticket!! I fly out of Erie at like 1:15pm and fly into Atlanta at 7:15-ish. I've got a 2 hour layover in Cleveland but my options were 2 hour layover or like 45 minute layover, I figured that since Jess's plane doesn't come in until 8:30 I might as well have the longer layover in case something went horribly wrong!! Less chance of me missing a flight! I cannot wait to leave!! Only a few more weeks!

Well... that's all the news for now! I'll try to do a better job of keeping you updated!

I'm BAAAACCCKKK

Yeah, I've been gone for a while... stuff that has happened...

1) I've got lots of baby birds!! 6 from TSC that have most of their feathers and are moving to the garage today and 4 that I hatched out that are about 3 weeks old...
2) It SNOWED the other day!! LOL It was about 60 degrees on Monday and then it snowed on Thursday *rolleyes* I hate Erie!!
3) Schools going OK. Still need to hand in my application for graduation though... (I should get on that!)
---------

I've gotten a few letters from Tim, he's doing really well... having fun... stuff like that... I'm really happy for him!! I'm so proud of my baby!!

At the moment I'm really, really bored... bored with school, bored with life... just bored!! I'm trying to find schools that look fun... I've emailed a few people but I still need to look around...

Well... I basically just wanted to update this so folks didn't think I died... TTYL!

Coffee Break...

So today I had a test in Vertebrate Zoology.... it wasn't too bad... I'm pretty sure I missed a couple points from one question though 'cause I don't think I really answered it as fully as I could have... but I couldn't really remember anything else to put down. :(  Oh well!!  Otherwise I think school is going really well... Need to check some grades but we'll see...
----------
CHICKENS!! I had two baby birds hatch out yesterday! The first one pipped sometime during school (noticed it when I got home at about 3:30) yesterday and was out of the shell by 5:00, it is a silvery grey color with brown "eye-liner" and I'm pretty sure it's got fluffy little cheeks!!  The second one pipped around 8:00pm and was out of the shell by 4:30am (dumb dog decided to start playing with a plastic cup).  It is pretty much all yellow with a black dot on the top of its head and FLUFFY CHEEKS!! (I'm gonna have a whole flock of cheeky chickens!!)

The Americaunas I picked up at TSC the other day are doing well. Everyone is eating and drinking and pooping... and cheeping!! They are SO noisy!! They are starting to get all their little wing feathers in!! It's so cute!! I'm hoping that it'll be warm enough for them to go outside in the chicken tractor by middle of next month... They should be fully-feathered by then but, again, we'll have to wait and see!
---------
Got a letter from Tim on Monday night, two actually... He basically just sent his new graduation date and his new address. Apparently his toe is healed enough that he can get back to training.  He said that he was having a great time and that it was good to be working with a group again so I took that as a good thing!!
---------
Well, I've got other stuff to do and emails to check... I'll be back later!!

Calls from Georgia!

Got a call from the fiancee today! YAY!! He has sent me a letter! I LOVE letters!! Anyways... he's gonna talk to a medical somebody tomorrow and see if he can get reassigned to a company, he's hoping that he can restart this week and get in with Bravo company 'cause they graduate in June.  Otherwise he'll be restarting with Foxtrot company and have to redo EVERYHING (Bravo company is already in week 2 which is where he left off).  So we're hoping for Bravo company and an earlier graduation date!! YAY for men in uniform! I can't wait!! :D
--------------------
Puppies are getting SO BIG!! Next Sunday some of them are going to their new homes! Gonna be a little bit sad but DEFINITELY gonna be nice to have them out of the house!! The little messes!! LOL
------------
School is going pretty well, took my second test in Vert Zoo lab... I think it went pretty well...
Got my test back for accounting, got a 96 on it!! Definitely have an A in that class... So I'm thinking I've got A's in Physics lecture and lab, Accounting and Invert lab (8credits) and a B in Invert lecture and Vert lab (4 credits) and I've got NO idea what I've got in Vert lecture (3 credits).  So I've got a decent semester so far!! Hoping for more good luck through the rest of the year!

No News is Not Necessarily Good News

Hey All!! Got a call from Timothy on Sunday... We got to talk for like 30 minutes!! And he got to call his mom and best friend as well!! YAY!!

Anyways, as of Sunday he was unsure whether he was going to be restarted or coming home but I'm assuming that since he hasn't called yet he's been restarted or going to be restarted.  The odd thing about it is that I'm really, really comfortable with it... I really don't know how to describe it other than it seems like this is what God wants right now, maybe I'm just actually paying attention to what He's been saying since January!! Either way it's a nice feeling to be able to think to myself "yes, this is OK with me."  I also found a great website that has been SOO helpful www.militarysos.com, tons of people on there from all different branches of the military and they're all military significant others so they know what I'm going through.  If ya happen to stop by send CrestedTern a PM!!

That's all the news for now!

Life Sucks

Got a call from Tim on Wednesday. His paperwork was stopped and he'll be staying in GA for another 2-3 weeks until his toe heals (its broken) and then he'll be restarting basic training... Aiming for a graduation sometime in July or August I guess... Sooo I dunno when I'll see him again :-(  In the meantime I'm just praying a LOT and staying in touch with some other people who have husbands/significant others in the military...  It's gonna be a rough road but I'll live!!

-------------
Puppies are growing... Most of them are eating raw with a vengeance, even those of them who don't have a particularly lot of teeth!! LOL  All the pups are spoken for now, just waiting for them to reach 8-9 weeks and then they'll be headed to their new homes!

-------------
Real life is calling and I don't know what else to write so I guess I'll be going!

News from GA... Puppy Updates... and other stuff

Soo bad news or good news first? Lets start with the bad news eh?  Ok...
-------
-------
Got two letters from Tim yesterday saying that he was probably NOT gonna be home for my spring break... Looking at another couple weeks at least before he gets out... Soo he's hoping he'll be home in time for his birthday (mid-March) so am I!! Will keep you updated on that front...
-------
Puppies!! Two are sold and picked out, one is not picked out but sold and we're keeping one!! James has decided that he wants a puppy so he's getting one from this litter... a female currently called "the twin" because she looks almost the same as the male.  So there's one female pup left for sale!!  They have all hit the one pound mark and are working towards 1.5 although they have slowed down on eating slightly.  Yesterday they got to taste some turkey which 3 of them loved and one had no idea what to do with it (she took a piece into a corner and sat there staring at it!! The last puppy was sleeping and didn't really want to wake up for the food.  We'll try some more turkey and maybe some venison today.

This morning the puppies got to try lapping milk out of a bowl! It worked!! YAY!! This will definitely make feeding them easier!! Now we just have to make sure that they're all getting enough to eat but that should be easy, I'm thinking the hard part will be making sure they don't OVEReat!! LOL
-------
The snow is... kind of going away... Kind of... It was almost gone and then we got another foot and now its been WAY below freezing for the past two days (2 degrees this morning!).  Gonna call about getting some more hay sometime today, we are definitely gonna need some more before spring.
-------
Chickens are doing great!! I'm getting about 6-8 eggs every day!! Thinking about incubating a bunch of them come spring and seeing if the feed store will purchase the chicks.  Also contemplating hatching some and bumping them off as day or week olds for the kitties... Not sure whether the cats'll like them or not though so we'll definitely start small with that venture!
-------
The mice are thriving!! I believe that I've got 3 prego females, 2 colored and one albino.  The male is verging on obese so he'll probably be culled sometime this week assuming I can get somewhere to purchase a new male... Can't remember if I have a second male in the tank or not.  I'll check that today.
-------
Talked to a falconer last night, probably gonna get to go out hunting a little bit over spring break!! YAY!! That oughta be fun!! I'll be sure and tell ya all about it if/when I go out.  Depends on weather and snow fall.
-------
I guess that pretty much wraps up the news for the past couple weeks... I've been pretty delinquent about updating but I'll try and do better!!

That's all for now!

News from Tim!

Got news from Tim on Sunday (yes, the same night as the Super(boring)Bowl.  He is coming home! Due to a slight injury during the first week he missed a full week of mandatory training and was given the option to either wait for 6 weeks for another group to come in and restart basic training or go home.  He said he's coming home!  He won't actually BE home for another 3 weeks-ish but he'll probably end up being home by my Spring Break so I can go visit!! YAY!

Prayers for both of us for wisdom on what to do next are greatly appreciated as now we are unsure as to whether we can actually go ahead with planning a summer 2012 wedding or if we'll have to push it back some.  Depends on jobs/school/etc.  Still not sure if he's gonna go back to school or not (fingers crossed that he will!).
-------------------------------
Of course puppies eyes are open... don't remember if I posted about that yet... They are all growing like bad weeds! Snickers is doing well, she's going in for a spay tomorrow because our vet thinks she has a slight infection that's likely to get worse and since we aren't going to breed her again anyway we might as well spay now.
-------------------------------
Finally got my raw food order from BlueRoseRaw, the stuff looks GREAT! Of course the beef heart is wonderful (at least the dogs think so!) and the pork necks look great too.  Twig tried one out and highly approved. This order we tried pork  necks, chicken backs, turkey chunks, tripe, spleen, and beef heart... Maybe we'll try to rabbit or goat next order!
------------------------------
Well... one of the perks of being a college student is that you occasionally have tests... I have one of those amazing critters to study for at present so I'll leave you all to ponder the greater mysteries of the universe and I shall go study Invert Zoology!

Snow.... and more snow....

So I woke up this morning... always a good thing to do right?  Anyways, I got up, let the dog out and the poor guy was trying to walk across the top of the "snow" that was frozen over the top.... It was actually slightly amusing...

Eventually he came back inside, the sibs and I got ready for school and I went out to see what the ice-scraping was gonna look like... It actually wasn't too bad ON the car... it was all the ice AROUND the car that worried me... The concrete pad was more like an ice skating rink, we should have been selling tickets!! It was seriously icy and completely smooth.  The driveway wasn't actually that bad though, just drove really slow!! Main roads weren't bad either as a matter of fact... So we finally got to school (in the rain) and none of my classes were cancelled (not surprising... my school NEVER cancels class!).  So yeah... I've been at school all day, wondering what the roads are gonna be like on my way home... The temps are supposed to be dropping throughout the day and I think that they have been... Its also snowing pretty hard right now and blowing around... So it remains to be seen whether or not we actually go to Bible Study tonight in Edinboro... if our roads are bad, theirs are worse.
------------
Wrote another letter to Tim today... talked to a friend whose husband just got out of the Army and to a friend whose husband is currently in the Airforce... It's really nice to talk to people who have actually been in the situation.... I just need to keep praying for Tim and sending letters!! Still haven't gotten any back from him but I know he's really busy and probably really tired right now... We'll see, maybe I'll get something this week!

That's all for now folks... Got physics lab to head off to and email to check.  Stay safe drivers!

Been a while...

So yeah. I actually have a life so I haven't posted in a while... A brief synopsis (good word eh?) of my life for the past week....

Monday (a week ago) -- Got a call from my fiance's drill instructor... says he's depressed, wants to come home....
Tuesday (a week ago) -- My mom calls me after school to say fiance called the house and he wants me to know he's fine but forgot my cell number (that's OK because I don't know HIS cell number either...probably should work on that)
Wednesday -- got fiance's address... HIS mom calls me after school to let me know that he called HER and says he's depressed... I mail a letter
Thursday -- no news about fiance, Snickers (the momma dog) starts shaking and stumbling around at 11pm, take her to emergency vet with eclampsia/milk fever (calcium deficiency), spend 2 hours at vets, get home at 3am, bottle-feed puppies, get to bed at 4am
Friday -- up at 7am, leave for school... still no news from Tim, mail another letter, get home, bottle feed pups through the night
Saturday -- no news is good news, feeding pups is getting easier, slept all afternoon
Sunday -- puppies eating very well, someone is still getting up twice a night to feed them though
Monday -- puppies doing great, cutting them back to one night feeding, no news from Tim
Tuesday (today!) -- puppies showed growth yesterday, Tim's mom emails to say Tim's dad got a voicemail from Tim saying he was OK, apparently he sounded better than he did last week, more letters mailed...
-------------------------------
So!! It's been a busy, busy week!! I've had a cold-like thing going on since Thursday... decided yesterday it was probably a combination of little sleep, very cold and allergies from feeding horses...

Got a test on Thursday... need to study for that... Classes are going pretty well considering everything... Agility class has started up again so I'm happy...

Need to weigh myself again... haven't been eating as much as I probably should be... Oh well, hoping to start working out a little bit again starting today...  Hopefully I'll be getting some news from Tim soon!!
